Tigers re-signed RHP Freddy Pacheco to a minor league contract.
Pacheco was a notable pitching prospect a couple seasons ago, but injuries have derailed his one-promising career. The 26-year-old righty has made only two appearances in the minor leagues over the last two seasons, but will remain with the Tigers as a long-term development project. If he can stay healthy, and the stuff bounces back, he might have a shot to reach the big leagues down the road.

Tigers re-signed RHP Freddy Pacheco to a minor league contract.
The deal presumably also includes an invitation to spring training as Pacheco returns to Detroit after being non-tendered last month. The 25-year-old reliever continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery and figures to be ready to contribute around midseason of the upcoming 2024 campaign, if his stuff rebounds to pre-surgery levels.

    Tigers non-tendered RHP Freddy Pacheco.
Pacheco was jettisoned from Detroit’s 40-man roster earlier this week and is now officially a free agent. The 25-year-old righty never wound up pitching for the Tigers due to elbow issues after being gobbled up off waivers back in spring training from the Cardinals.

Tigers designated RHP Freddy Pacheco for assignment.
The Tigers needed to clear room on their 40-man roster on Tuesday and Pacheco was unfortunately one of the odd men out. Pacheco missed the entire 2023 season due to continued elbow troubles. There’s a chance that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and will continue rehabbing in the Tigers’ organization.

Tigers activated OFs Riley Greene and Austin Meadows, RHPs Casey Mize and Freddy Pacheco and LHP Tyler Alexander from the 60-day injured list.
Greene, the 23-year-old budding superstar, had his 2023 season cut short after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his non-throwing elbow in September. He’s said to be on track in his recovery though and is tentatively expected to be ready in time for Opening Day. Greene slashed .288/.349/.447 with 11 homers, 37 RBI and seven stolen bases in 416 plate appearances over 99 games during the 2023 campaign.

Tigers’ right-hander Freddy Pacheco will undergo additional testing after experiencing renewed elbow soreness following a bullpen session on Friday.
The 24-year-old hurler has been plagued by elbow issues since the middle of spring training. There’s obviously no clear timetable for his return at the moment, and the longer that these elbow issues linger the morel likely surgery becomes.

Tigers placed RHP Freddy Pacheco on the 60-day injured list with right elbow tightness.
The Tigers needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster after acquiring Zach McKinstry from the Cubs on Monday afternoon, so Pacheco heads to the 60-day IL. The 24-year-old hurler was shut down in early March due to tightness in his pitching elbow and has yet to resume throwing. He’ll continue to work his way back at the Triple-A level for the Tigers and could be an option for their bullpen around midseason.

Tigers claimed RHP Freddy Pacheco off waivers from the Cardinals.
Pacheco was optioned to Triple-A Memphis earlier this month and the Cardinals ultimately decided to remove him altogether from their 40-man roster. The 24-year-old righty has been dealing with right elbow tightness this spring and will head to Triple-A Toledo to continue working his way back. He could be an option for the Tigers in a relief role sometime this year. The interesting development here is that the Cardinals suddenly have an open spot on the 40-man roster to add someone else, like a top prospect, perhaps.

Cubs optioned RHPs Freddy Pacheco and Guillermo Zuniga to Triple-A Memphis; reassigned RHPs James Naile, Kodi Whitley and Tommy Parsons and Cs Jimmy Crooks III and Aaron Antonini to minor league camp.
As is typically the case with the first round of spring cuts, there are no real surprises among the group here. Pacheco was shut down early in spring camp due to tightness in his right elbow and could wind up beginning the season on the injured list.

Cardinals RHP prospect Freddy Pacheco will be shut down from throwing for a few weeks due to right elbow tightness.
Pacheco underwent some additional testing, which didn’t reveal anything concerning. The 24-year-old right-hander could wind up opening the regular season on the 60-day injured list, which would open up a spot on the Cardinals’ 40-man roster.
