Former Marlins reliever Freddy Tarnok is signing with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Tarnok takes his talents overseas after being jettisoned from Miami’s roster earlier this month. The 26-year-old reliever will attempt to rebuild his long-term value in Japan after posting a serviceable 3.97 ERA across 22 2/3 innings over 11 appearances in the big leagues since 2022.

Marlins sent RHP Valente Bellozo, RHP Freddy Tarnok, C Brian Navarreto, RHP Jesus Tinoco and RHP Tyler Zuber outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
All players will have the ability to enter free agency, if they so choose. Bellozo has been an up-and-down option for Miami over the past couple of years, and likely will have interest on the market as a depth piece if he doesn’t stay with Miami.

Marlins activated RHP Freddy Tarnok off the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Tarnok could return to the Marlins over the final week-plus, but more than likely he finishes 2025 in the minors and competes for a bullpen spot in spring training.

Marlins placed RHP Freddy Tarnok on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 3, with a left ankle sprain.
No word yet regarding the severity of the sprain, which will determine how much time Tarnok remains out. The 26-year-old middle reliever holds a sharp 2.45 ERA across 7 1/3 innings over five appearances in the big leagues this season.

Marlins recalled RHP Freddy Tarnok from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Tarnok, who opened the season as a Triple-A starting pitcher, made two appearances for the Marlins back in June, throwing two scoreless innings, and since being demoted, he had a 0.74 ERA in 24 1/3 innings out of the pen for Jacksonville. He could work his way into a setup role if he performs well.

Marlins optioned RHP Freddy Tarnok to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Tarnok pitched solidly in both relief appearances, but the Marlins need room for Adam Mazur on the active roster. Tarnok will likely be back at some point this summer.
