Giants signed first-round pick SS Gavin Kilen.
Kilen will likely wind up at second base after mostly playing there during his collegiate career at Tennessee. The 21-year-old, who receives a $5.24 million signing bonus as the 13th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, boasts one of the better bat-to-ball skillsets in his class while still adding some additional thump. He’s the type of advanced college bat that tends to move quickly and the Giants figure to be pretty aggressive with his development.

Giants selected Tennessee SS Gavin Kilen with the No. 13 selection of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Kilen played mostly second base while he was with the Volunteers, but the Giants will give him a chance to play shortstop. The 21-year-old offers a plus hit tool, and he has seen his power increase since transferring to Tennessee from Louisville. He’s a solid runner, but isn’t likely to be a major threat in terms of stolen bases. Kilen doesn’t have huge upside, but he has a high floor and could be a starter up the middle by the end of 2027.
