Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays are acquiring left-handed reliever Garrett Cleavinger from the Dodgers for outfield prospect German Tapia.
Cleavinger will bolster the Rays’ organizational relief depth moving forward. The 28-year-old lefty has made just four relief appearances this season in the majors and holds a respectable 2.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 47/17 K/BB ratio across 29 innings at the Triple-A level. Tapia is an 18-year-old on the Rays’ Dominican Summer League squad.
