Giants prospect Gustavo Cabrera suffered a serious off-field wrist injury this weekend in the Dominican.
According to Baseball America’s Ben Badler, Cabrera “suffered severe lacerations in his wrist” after falling onto a piece of glass and required emergency surgery. Badler saw pictures of the wounds and describes them as “graphic.” Cabrera, a promising 17-year-old outfielder, signed with the Giants for $1.3 million in July 2012. He might have to sit out the entire 2014 season.
