Cardinals signed RHP Harold Arauz to a minor league contract.
Arauz, 23, registered a 4.69 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 125/44 K/BB ratio over 140 innings (26 starts) this past year between the Double-A and Triple-A affiliates of the Phillies. Philly acquired him from the Astros back in 2015 as part of a trade involving Vince Velasquez, Ken Giles, and Mark Appel, among others.

Phillies acquired RHPs Harold Arauz, Mark Appel, Vince Velasquez, Thomas Eshelman and LHP Brett Oberholtzer from the Astros for RHP Ken Giles and INF Jonathan Arauz.
The 20-year-old hurler spent the entire 2015 campaign at Low-A Tri-City where he compiled a 5.75 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 52/18 K/BB ratio in 51 2/3 innings across 10 starts and five relief appearances. He’s much more of a project than he is a finished product at this point.
