Rockies pitching prospect Helmis Rodriguez defeated his twin brother Sunday in a seven-inning gem for Low-A Asheville.
Herlis Rodriguez, a right-fielder for Lakewood, went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Helmis allowed just two hits in seven shutout frames, winning for the third time this season. Twelve of the 21 outs he recorded came on ground balls. Rodriguez is pitching to contact (.278 opponent batting average) but so far, it hasn’t hurt him. His 2.02 ERA is seventh-best in the South Atlantic League.
