    Goebbert is a former 13th-round pick that’s put up a .285/.363/.431 over four minor league seasons. He can play all three outfield positions but doesn’t have much power or speed. The A’s will probably be thrilled if he winds up being a decent extra outfielder.

    Padres OF prospect Jake Goebbert bashed two homers Sunday in a win for Triple-A El Paso
    Goebbert slugged his way to a season-high four RBI. His four hits tied a career-high. The 27-year-old has struggled against lefties this year (.185) but is hitting a robust .297 against right-handers. Goebbert entered Sunday’s action with just one homer in 122 at-bats.

    Padres purchased the contract of OF Jake Goebbert from Triple-A El Paso.
    Goebbert was hitting .270/.383/.459 with five home runs and 18 RBI through 32 games this season at the Triple-A level. He will serve as depth at first base and in the corner outfield spots for San Diego.

    Quentin has been dealing with left knee soreness and will have to miss a second consecutive game. Jake Goebbert is getting his first start in the big leagues to replace Quentin in left field.

    The 26-year-old appeared in 22 games during his time with the Padres, slashing .250/.333/.354 with a homer, three RBI and a 16/5 K/BB ratio in 54 at-bats. He’ll continue to provide organizational depth in the outfield.

    Goebbert, a 26-year-old former 13th-round pick, was batting .257/.371/.505 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 31 games this season at Triple-A Sacramento. He could make a contribution in San Diego at some point this year but is doubtful to ever become a good major league regular.
