Adkins was in obvious pain afterwards, but he was able to walk off under his own power. The 2007 supplemental first-round pick is probably going to begin this season at Single-A Vero Beach.

2007 supplemental first-round pick James Adkins fanned 11 in six scoreless innings Sunday for Single-A Inland Empire.

Adkins has a 1.89 ERA and a .179 average against in 19 innings. He’s polished enough that he have been a factor in the majors before the end of this year for a lesser team. The Dodgers, though, have plenty of alternatives ahead of him.
