    Rangers signed INF Jason Martinson to a minor league contract.
    The 28-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his minor league career in the Nationals’ organization. In 2016, he slashed just .218/.284/.369 with 12 homers, 58 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 507 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse. With the ability to play all four infield positions, as well as the corner outfield, he could make his big league debut with the Rangers in 2016 should injuries strike.

    The 27-year-old spent the 2015 season at Triple-A Syracuse where he slashed .218/.299/.380 with 19 homers and 56 RBI. He’ll continue to function as organizational infield depth.

    Martinson was drafted by the Nationals in 2010 (fifth round out of Texas State University) and is now back with the organization after batting just .208/.286/.361 over 204 plate appearances in 2017 with the Triple-A affiliate of the Rangers. The career minor leaguer turned 29 years old in October.
