Jason Miller was torched for eight runs in one-third of an inning of relief by the Angels on Monday night.
The Twins might be more than a .500 team if they ever decide to use their 11 or 12 best pitchers. Miller had pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings since being called up, but he wasn’t the best choice to be added to the Minnesota pen last month.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher
Twins purchased the contract of LHP Jason Miller from Triple-A Rochester.
Ricky Barrett gets passed over again. This time, it’s for Miller, a flyball pitcher who had managed just 10 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings in Triple-A. He’s a long shot to be more than adequate out of the pen.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher
Twins optioned LHP Jason Miller to Triple-A Rochester.
Miller gave up eight runs in four innings during his time in the majors.
  • MIN 1st Baseman #7
The Twins confirmed that they’ll activate Joe Mauer prior to Friday’s game.
Jason Miller will head to Triple-A to open up room on the roster, leaving the Twins with three catchers for now. Chris Heintz should return to Triple-A eventually. It’s possible that Mauer will bat second, rather than his usual third, giving the Twins a stronger top of the order.
