Chase Ford of MiLB Central reports that the Pirates have promoted Javier Rivas to Double-A Altoona.
Rivas was signed out of Venezuela as an international free agent prior to the 2021 season. The 22-year-old infielder was slashing .264/.319/.458 with 18 homers, 71 RBI, four stolen bases and a 90/19 K/BB ratio over 384 plate appearances at High-A Greensboro. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs in his first taste of action at the Double-A level.
