Jeff DaVanon’s roster spot appears secure even after Darin Erstad comes off the DL.
DaVanon is hitting .329, but will have no value with a healthy Erstad around. Still, he’s definitely got a better future with the Angels than Eric Owens.

Manager Mike Scioscia said he would try to get Jeff DaVanon as many at-bats as possible, whether it means giving a regular outfielder the day off or switching an outfielder to DH on occasion.
With DaVanon hitting .433 in his last 67 at-bats, the Angels would be foolish not to find time for him. But Brad Fullmer and Shawn Wooten don’t deserve to lose their DH jobs.

Jeff DaVanon is progressing well in his recovery from back spasms, and should be able to return to active duty on August 9th, the first day he is eligible.
DaVanon has played well in limited duty this season, and will continue to be the Angles’ part-time left fielder upon his return to action.

Jeff DaVanon (back spasms) worked out aggressively yesterday and could go out on a rehab assignment as early as tomorrow.
Barring a setback, DaVanon could play games at Class AAA Salt Lake City through the weekend, and join the Angels on Monday, the first day he is eligible to be activated off the disabled list.

Jeff DaVanon will not be activated from the disabled list today.
DaVanon suffered a twisted foot while playing for Salt Lake and as a result his return will be pushed back a couple of days at the minimum. He still should be able to return for the Angels later this week, so get ready to activate DaVanon if you own him in fantasy pools.

Manager Mike Scioscia said, ''The really short-term focus for Jeff [DaVanon] right now is not his ability to play every day, it’s his ability to come off the bench and contribute.’'
Please. DaVanon has hit safely in all nine games since being moved into the leadoff spot. In June he hit .349 with eight home runs and 15 RBI. Not only should DaVanon be in the lineup regularly with Brad Fullmer lost for the year, he should be the everyday leadoff hitter until he shows he can’t handle it.

Jeff DaVanon was ejected from tonight’s game in the eighth inning for throwing his bat after a called strike three.
It probably wasn’t suspension worthy. DaVanon went 0-for-4 before being tossed.

Jeff DaVanon left Saturday’s game in the first inning due to a sprained ankle.
DaVanon, who was hurt stealing second base, is day-to-day. Eric Byrnes pinch-ran for him and took over in center field.

Diamondbacks placed outfielder Jeff DaVanon on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 6, with a sprained left ankle.
DaVanon was supposed to be ready to play on Wednesday after hurting his ankle Saturday, but the Diamondbacks decided he was at least a few more days away. This could mean that Carlos Quentin will get a start or two in center field.
