Kyle Snyder is making his debut today. Hill will return to Kansas City the next time the bullpen has a need.

The Royals want to leave Albie Lopez and Kris Wilson in the bullpen, which is why they would prefer to bring up Snyder for his debut start. Hill should be back later in the season, but is not yet someone to consider.

Hill, acquired from the Royals for LHP Graeme Lloyd in July, had a 10.38 ERA after joining Double-A Binghamton. The converted catcher throws in the mid-90s, but he’s not a prospect right now.

Hill has almost no chance of making the Mets out of spring training. He’ll begin the year at Triple-A Norfolk and attempt to get back to where he was in 2002.

Hill is just as wild as Mike MacDougal, but his stuff isn’t quite as good. He has a chance to turn into a quality reliever someday, but he shouldn’t be in the majors right now. Avoid him.

Because if there’s one thing the Mets need, it’s another relief prospect. Hill, a converted catcher, can throw in the mid-90s, but he has a 7.81 ERA and 42 walks in 40 1/3 innings for Triple-A Omaha this year. Maybe he’ll blossom into a setup man, but the odds aren’t in his favor.
