Single-A Wilmington’s Joe Dickerson went 4-for-5 with two triples and five RBI in Saturday’s game.
Dickerson is batting .302/.397/.492 with five homers and 23 steals in a nice environment for pitchers. That he’s not a particularly good center fielder may prevent him from making it as a regular in the majors, but he could end up becoming a very good fourth outfielder.

Joe Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI for Surprise of the AFL on Friday.
Dickerson entered with a .209/.244/.314 line in 86 at-bats, so he needed the big game. The 2005 fourth-round pick ended up at .297/.376/.442 with 24 steals for Single-A Wilmington last season. He projects as a reserve outfielder for the Royals.
  • MIN Outfield
Low Single-A Burlington’s Joe Dickerson went 2-for-5 and hit his first homer of the year on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Dickerson has made a quick adjustment to full-season ball, hitting .310/.412/.429 in 13 games so far. The 2005 fourth-round pick is no lock to remain a center fielder and wouldn’t be nearly as good of a prospect in a corner. However, if he can stay in center, he has a chance of becoming a long-term regular for the Royals. He’d be ready about the time that David DeJesus could require a move to left.
