Twins signed RHP John Brebbia to a minor league contract.
There are few teams with a clearer path to relief innings than the rebuilding Twins. Brebbia heads to Triple-A St. Paul as emergency middle relief depth after failing to crack Colorado’s season-opening bullpen earlier this spring. The 35-year-old veteran posted an inflated 7.71 ERA across 22 appearances between the Tigers and Braves last year but has made 376 relief appearances in the big leagues since 2017.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #83
Rockies reassigned RHP Valente Bellozo to minor league camp; released RHP John Brebbia.
Bellozo and Brebbia were in Rockies camp this spring as non-roster invitees attempting to make the club’s season-opening relief mix. Bellozo will presumably head to Triple-A Albuquerque to open the year while Brebbia has been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #60
Rockies signed RHP John Brebbia to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Brebbia bolsters Colorado’s bullpen depth heading into next spring after making 22 relief appearances between the Tigers and Braves last season, finishing with a bloated 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings of work. The 35-year-old journeyman has made 376 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2017.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #60
Red Sox signed RHP John Brebbia to a minor league contract.
Brebbia won’t be eligible for the postseason, if the Red Sox qualify, but he provides them with some experienced relief depth for the home stretch. The 35-year-old veteran has been hit hard with a bloated 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings of work this season between the Tigers and Braves. He’s made 376 relief appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2017.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #60
Braves RHP John Brebbia elected free agency.
Brebbia will test the open market after going unclaimed on waivers. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander made only three appearances for Atlanta before being designated for assignment earlier this week.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #60
Braves designated RHP John Brebbia for assignment.
Brebbia was signed to a minor league deal in June and called up to Atlanta two weeks ago. He’s posted a 7.71 ERA in 23 1/3 innings with the Tigers and Braves this season. He will try to find a minor league deal somewhere else.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #49
Braves selected the contract of RHP John Brebbia from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Brebbia is back in the majors two months after the Tigers cut him. He had a 7.71 ERA in 18 2/3 innings for Detroit. This will be the veteran’s second stint with Atlanta after he allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings for the club last September. He had a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings for Gwinnett.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #49
Braves signed RHP John Brebbia to a minor league contract.
Brebbia was just cut loose by the Tigers after amassing a 7.71 ERA in 18 2/3 innings. He’ll probably needs to regain some lost velocity if he’s going to help in the Braves pen later this season.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #49
    Tigers released RHP John Brebbia.
The Tigers were hopeful that the 35-year-old right-hander would make a solid addition to the back end of their bullpen in 2025, but he struggled to a 7.71 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and a 20/11 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings in his 19 appearances before being designated for assignment and ultimately released. He has had enough success in the league that he shouldn’t have trouble latching on elsewhere and a reunion with the White Sox could seemingly make sense for both sides.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #49
Tigers designated RHP John Brebbia for assignment.
Brebbia has been booted from Detroit’s bullpen mix ahead of Sunday’s showdown against the Reds after posting a calamitous 7.71 ERA across 18 2/3 innings (19 appearances) in his Tigers debut. The 35-year-old veteran figures to be able to land somewhere else as middle relief depth.
