    Jon Moscot announced his retirement.
Moscot, 27, announced his retirement on Instagram. He last pitched in the majors in 2016, and he was unable to make a successful return after undergoing Tommy John surgery that summer. He pitched in eight games -- all starts -- with Cincinnati with an ERA of 6.82 over two seasons and 33 innings.

Jon Moscot was ineffective in earning a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday, surrendering five runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Moscot was driven from the mound courtesy of a five-run fourth inning by the Nationals. Through five starts, the 24-year-old right-hander holds a bloated 8.02 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. A home date with the A’s shows next on his schedule.

Jon Moscot underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Tuesday.
Considering how late it is in the 2016 regular season, we might not see Moscot again until 2018. The 24-year-old right-hander holds a 6.82 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 16/15 K/BB ratio in 33 career major league innings.

Reds optioned RHP Jon Moscot to Triple-A Louisville.
Moscot gets the boot from the rotation after posting an ugly 8.02 ERA through five starts. Steve Selsky will take his spot on the active roster, but Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) is due to join the rotation on Friday.

Jon Moscot (shoulder) will rejoin the Reds’ rotation this week in Colorado.
Moscot threw six scoreless innings in his last rehab start, paving the way for his return. It’s unclear at this point who he will replace in the Reds’ rotation, but Daniel Wright would seem to be the most likely candidate. Moscot can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Jon Moscot (shoulder) was pounded in his latest minor league rehab start on Friday, allowing nine runs on 11 hits over four innings at Triple-A Louisville.
Four of those 11 hits left the yard. Moscot also issued a pair of walks while striking out four on the day. While the important takeaway is that he came out of the outing healthy, the Reds may opt for him to make another minor league start before rejoining the big league rotation.

Reds activated RHP Jon Moscot from the 15-day disabled list.
Moscot will rejoin the Reds’ starting rotation Tuesday night in Colorado after missing the last four weeks with a shoulder injury. He threw six scoreless innings in his final minor league rehab start, but the right-hander is a poor fantasy bet at Coors Field.

Jon Moscot allowed seven runs, including four home runs, over two innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Rockies.
The young right-hander got a rude greeting in his first start off the disabled list, giving up eight hits in total. In fact, after the first three batters Moscot was already down 3-0, and the Rockies would plate two more in the inning. Coors Field is a different animal, but the 24-year-old now has eight homers allowed through four starts. He’ll try to work on his 7.13 ERA and 1.70 WHIP Sunday against the Nationals.

Reds sent RHP Jon Moscot outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Moscot underwent Tommy John surgery on July 19 and probably won’t be recovered until sometime next August or September. The 25-year-old right-hander is off the Reds’ 40-man roster.

Reds placed RHP Jon Moscot on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 3, with left shoulder discomfort.
The good news, is that his MRI revealed no structural damage, but he’s still going to require a trip to the disabled list. He received a cortisone injection earlier in the week and is hoping to be ready for a return as soon as he’s eligible.
