Braves signed RHP Jon Olczak to a minor league contract.
The 29-year-old right-hander spent the last two seasons in the Astros’ organization. He struggled for most of the 2022 campaign -- registering a 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 77/21 K/BB ratio over 65 2/3 innings at Triple-A Sugar Land. He’ll add bullpen depth in the upper minors for the Braves.

Astros optioned RHP Forrest Whitley to Triple-A Sugar Land; reassigned RHP’s Hunter Brown and Jon Olczak to minor league camp.
Whitley is the most prominent inclusion in the latest round of cuts from Astros’ camp. The former top prospect hasn’t made an appearance this spring, but has begun a throwing program. Brown has turned heads with a pair of stellar Grapefruit League starts and could factor into the Astros’ rotation mix later this season.

  • Relief Pitcher
Astros re-signed RHP Jon Olczak to a minor-league contract.
Olczak posted strong numbers in relief between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land, registering a solid 2.81 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 53/10 K/BB ratio across 48 innings. The 28-year-old righty will give the Astros some additional organizational relief depth.
