De Jong gave up nine runs -- eight earned -- in nine innings over his nearly six weeks with the Jays. The 28-year-old probably won’t get many more opportunities.

If the Jays are just going to keep cycling through random arms, it’d be nice to see Lee Gronkiewicz get an opportunity at some point. De Jong, 28, had a 2.31 ERA in 25 1/3 innings of relief for Syracuse. He shouldn’t last as a middle reliever.
