Juan was on Oakland’s 40-man roster as recently as May, but never wound up pitching this past season due to injury. The 24-year-old righty, who has yet to pitch above the Double-A level, represents a speculative project for the Braves.

The Athletics were forced to release Juan after he cleared waivers due to league transaction rules since he was on the minor league injured list. However, the two sides were able to agree to a reunion. The 23-year-old righty hasn’t pitched this season due to injury, but was added to Oakland’s 40-man roster last offseason.

Juan passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week and the Athletics were forced to release him since he was on the minor league injured list. The 23-year-old righty was added to Oakland’s 40-man roster last November after posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 40/13 K/BB ratio across 26 2/3 innings last year between Low-A Stockton and High-A Lansing. He should be able to latch on somewhere else on a minor league pact.

Juan was waived by the A’s Sunday to make room on the 40-man roster for Ramon Laureano. The 23-year-old right-hander had allowed seven runs with nine strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in High-A.

Juan will head over to the minor-league side of Athletics’ camp for the remainder of spring training.
