Jose Ceda is scheduled to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on April 3.
Ceda sprained the UCL in his right elbow last week. He will miss the entire 2012 season and might not be ready for action again until the middle of the 2013 campaign.

Jose Ceda fanned four in two scoreless innings out of the pen Friday versus the Cardinals.
Ceda finished strong last year and has a nice 6/1 K/BB ratio in 4 1/3 scoreless innings to start the spring. It’s hard to see him making the Marlins out of spring training if everyone stays healthy, but he is making a case.

Jose Ceda will begin the season on the disabled list due to a sprained right elbow.
Ceda suffered the injury last Thursday against the Braves. It’s not considered serious, but the hard-throwing right-hander simply won’t have enough time to get ready for the season.

Jose Ceda could need Tommy John surgery.
Ceda suffered an elbow strain this week in Marlins camp. The right-hander will likely get a second opinion in a few days before deciding whether to go under the knife.

Marlins transferred RHP Jose Ceda from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It’s a move simply to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, as Ceda will miss the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Jose Ceda (elbow) threw a simulated game Sunday.
Ceda missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery but has a shot to be ready by Opening Day. He’s competing for a bullpen spot.

Marlins placed RHP Jose Ceda on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.
The hard-throwing right-hander is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He should be ready for game action when his 60 days are up.

Marlins sent RHP Jose Ceda outright to Triple-A New Orleans.
The 26-year-old missed most of the 2013 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, tossing just four innings in the lowest levels of the minor leagues. Provided that he’s fully healthy and ready for spring training, Ceda is a strong candidate to earn a spot in the Marlins bullpen.

In his first relief appearance of the season, Single-A Daytona’s Jose Ceda allowed one run in an inning on Saturday.
Ceda apparently is getting a promotion to Double-A, though it’s unclear whether he’ll be a starter there or head back to the bullpen. He had a 4.65 ERA and a 47/28 K/BB ratio in 50 1/3 innings as a starter for Single-A Daytona, so there’s little to suggest he’s ready to start games in Double-A. He’s likely to end up in the pen anyway.
