MLB suspended INF Jose Iglesias one game for his conduct towards the umpires after Game 3 of the Padres’ Wild Card series against the Cubs.
Iglesias and Xander Bogaerts were also fined an undisclosed amount. The incident followed a controversial ninth-inning strike call from D.J. Reyburn on a 3-2 pitch to Bogaerts that appeared to be below the zone. The Padres went on to lose the series-ending game and directed some anger the umpiring crew’s way afterwards. Iglesias, who is set to become a free agent, will sit on Opening Day unless he successfully appeals.

Manny Machado is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s battle against the Diamondbacks.
With the game being inconsequential for playoff purposes, the Padres will use it as an opportunity to get their 33-year-old superstar a breather before the postseason begins. Jose Iglesias will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat sixth for the Padres against Diamondbacks’ southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez.

Jose Iglesias hit a solo homer while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a win over the Brewers on Monday in 11 innings.
Iglesias was able to double his homer total to two with a solo shot off Freddy Peralta, of all pitchers. The veteran infielder also drew a walk, but even with the strong three-reach game, he’s slashing an unusable .228/.300/.282.

Jake Cronenworth is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Nationals.
It’ll be the first time in June that Cronenworth is not in the starting lineup. He’ll sit against southpaw MacKenzie Gore, and Jose Iglesias will be the starting second baseman.

Jose Iglesias played the role of hero for the Padres on Sunday afternoon, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, including a walk-off fielder’s choice in the ninth inning.
The 35-year-old infielder came on as a pinch-hitter for Jake Cronenworth in the seventh inning and delivered a two-out, two-run single off of Lucas Erceg that tied the game at 2-2. Iglesias drove in Luis Arraez with the walk-off winner on a fielder’s choice to the shortstop where the Royals had no chance to get Arraez who was running on contact from third base. On the season, he’s now slashing .232/.297/.268 with zero homers, 19 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 160 plate appearances for the Padres.

Xander Bogaerts is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Giants.
Bogaerts left Wednesday’s game with left shoulder soreness, and the 32-year-old will get another day of rest at least before being inserted back in the starting lineup. Jose Iglesias will be the fill-in with Bogaerts unavailable.

Jose Iglesias hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to give the Padres a win over the Giants on Monday.
Iglesias flew out deep enough in the 10th to score Jake Cronenworth to give the Padres the 1-0 lead and take the first game in the series. The 35-year-old has driven in just 13 runs in 2025, and he’s slashing an absolutely unusable .248/.301/.292 over the first two months of the season.

Jose Iglesias hit a two-run double to help the Padres to an extra-innings win over the Marlins on Monday.
Iglesias doubled in a pair in the fourth to get the Padres to within a run at 3-2. The 35-year-old also drew a walk, but a three-reach game still has him slashing an unusable .255/.307/.302 in his 106 at-bats over 35 games with San DIego.
