Royals optioned INF Josh Rojas to Triple-A Omaha.
Rojas went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI in two games for the Royals after being called up last week from the minors. The well-traveled 31-year-old infielder will remain stashed as organizational depth at Triple-A.

Bobby Witt Jr. left Sunday’s game in the seventh inning with right knee soreness.
There was nothing obvious in the game that might have caused this, so it might be a lingering issue. Michael Massey replaced him in the game against the Twins, and Maikel Garcia shifted to shortstop. Josh Rojas would probably see a lot of action at third if Witt needed to go on the IL.

Josh Rojas made a major impact in his Royals’ debut on Thursday night, delivering a pinch-hit, go-ahead two-run single in the ninth inning that propelled the Royals past the Twins.
Rojas came on to hit for Nick Loftin with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning. He got ahead in the count 3-1 against Justin Lawrence before lining his go-ahead two-run single into center field. That would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him stick around and potentially find himself in the starting lineup on Friday after his heroics on Thursday night.

Royals selected the contract of INF Josh Rojas from Triple-A Omaha.
The 32-year-old infielder has been stationed at Triple-A Omaha this season, slashing .246/.309/.433 with six homers and 26 RBI across 189 plate appearances. He’ll add some depth to the Royals’ bench for at least a few days.

Royals signed INF Josh Rojas to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
We’re only a few years removed from Rojas being an impact utility player for the Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, the last two years outside of Arizona have not been kind to him, and he hit .180/.252/.259 with two homers and four RBI in 211 plate appearances with the White Sox last season. He can play all over the infield, so the Royals will hope that they can help him recapture some of the 2022 magic.

White Sox released INF Josh Rojas.
The 31-year-old had been designated for assignment on Friday. After passing through waivers unclaimed the White Sox granted his release, so he’s now free to latch on elsewhere if he so chooses. Rojas slashed an abysmal .180/.252/.259 with two homers and four RBI in 211 plate appearances during his time with the White Sox.

White Sox designated INF Josh Rojas for assignment.
Chicago has decided to part ways with Rojas after he posted a .180/.252/.259 triple-slash line with two homers and four RBI in 211 plate appearances over 69 games.

Chase Meidroth (thumb) remains out of the lineup for the fourth straight game on Tuesday against the Mariners.
It’s a bit strange that Meidroth remains out after missing three straight games and also getting some extra time to rest and recover during Monday’s off day. The 24-year-old infielder is presumably going to avoid the injured list at this point, but his return to Chicago’s lineup remains up in the air. It’ll be Josh Rojas continuing to handle the keystone in his absence.

Chase Meidroth (thumb) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Angels.
Meidroth remains stapled to the bench for the third consecutive game after X-rays on his right thumb came back negative for any fractures following a hit by pitch during Wednesday’s series finale against the Phillies. It’ll be Josh Rojas continuing to fill-in at the keystone in his absence. It’s impossible to rule out a trip to the injured list, but it sounds like there’s a possibility he’ll be ready for Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners.

Josh Rojas clubbed his first home run of the season on Tuesday, accounting for the White Sox’ lone tally in a losing effort against the Blue Jays.
Rojas finally got the White Sox on the board with his 373-foot solo shot off of right-hander Chris Bassitt in the sixth inning. That would be their only run in the ballgame. Rojas finished the night 1-for-2 and is now hitting .184/.256/.250 with one long ball and eight RBI over 169 pitiful plate appearances on the season.
