Ramirez, who spent parts of four seasons in the majors, hit .272/.310/.420 and stole 21 bases for Triple-A Tucson last season. He’ll play for Triple-A Fresno.

Ramirez, who made the Angels out of spring training as a fifth outfielder, had just one official at-bat this season.

Ramirez, 28, went 1-for-4 for the Giants in September after hitting .241/.286/.459 in 386 AB for Triple-A Fresno. He’s strictly a Triple-A player.

Ramirez spent the first three weeks of last season as Anaheim’s fifth outfielder, but he got all of one at-bat during that time. After being sent down, he hit .279 with a 729 OPS for Triple-A Salt Lake. He’d be a pretty weak option as a reserve.

Back in the majors for the first time since 2003, the 28-year-old Ramirez went 1-for-4 for the Giants in September after hitting .241/.286/.459 in 386 AB for Triple-A Fresno. He’ll likely be a regular for Triple-A Norfolk.

The Angels went for defense over offense at the fifth outfield spot. Jeff DaVanon would have been the better choice. Ramirez shouldn’t have any fantasy value.
