Orioles sent outfielder Keith Reed outright to Triple-A Ottawa.
Reed, 26, made his major league debut in May and went 1-for-5 in nine days on the roster. He hit .292/.316/.458 in 271 AB for Ottawa. A career as a reserve seems unlikely.

Orioles re-signed outfielder Keith Reed to a minor league contract.
Reed, 27, went 1-for-5 in nine days on Baltimore’s roster in May. He batted .292/.316/.458 in 271 AB for Triple-A Ottawa. He’s strictly a Triple-A player.

Orioles purchased the contract of outfielder Keith Reed from Triple-A Ottawa.
Reed was hitting .265/.282/.480 for Ottawa. Even with two starting outfielders out, he shouldn’t get many starts. The Orioles will use David Newhan and Larry Bigbie in center, Bigbie and B.J. Surhoff in left and Jay Gibbons and Bigbie in right. They can all mix in Jeff Fiorentino at each spot and use Gibbons at 1B and DH. Reed shouldn’t be picked up in AL-only leagues.

The Orioles intend to call up Keith Reed to replace Sammy Sosa on the roster.
If the Orioles wanted someone to come up and play, they would have chosen Walter Young. Reed, who was hitting .265/.282/.480 for Triple-A Ottawa, should find himself glued to the bench.
