Kevin Jepsen (knee) has impressed onlookers during his early bullpen sessions in Angels camp.
Jepsen posted a rough 7.62 ERA in 16 appearances for the Halos last season before undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in September. He’ll be fighting for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen in camp this spring.

Angels optioned RHP Kevin Jepsen to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The move was made to clear space for RHP Ernesto Frieri, who was acquired from the Padres on Thursday. Jepsen had been one of the worst members of the Halos’ rocky bullpen, allowing nine runs (eight earned) while posting a 4/2 K/BB ratio in seven innings over nine appearances. Similarly ineffective in 2011, Jepsen could find himself camped out at Triple-A for an extended period of time.

Angels recalled RHP Kevin Jepsen from Triple-A Salt Lake.
He’ll replace the injured Dan Haren (back) on the active roster. The Angels will need a starter for Sunday’s game, so Jepsen’s stint in the majors could be a brief one. He’ll serve as bullpen depth for now.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Angels are expected to tender a contract to right-hander Jerome Williams.
The Angels are also expected to tender contracts to designated hitter Kendrys Morales, third baseman Alberto Callaspo and reliever Kevin Jepsen. Some pegged Williams as a non-tender candidate after he posted a disappointing 4.58 ERA in 137 2/3 innings this season, but the Angels are short on starters at the moment.

Kevin Jepsen (triceps) has been cleared to throw his first bullpen session on Saturday.
Jepsen has extended his long toss program in recent weeks to build up his arm strength, and hasn’t experienced any setbacks. He had been experiencing tightness in his triceps since the second week of spring training, and attempted to pitch through the ailment. He struggled through his first six outings however, and hit the disabled list on April 13. He should return to the Angels bullpen by the end of the month.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Kevin Jepsen (triceps) is “close” to rejoining the bullpen.
