Robertson got into a pair of games for the Cardinals during the 2022 campaign and wound up posting a lackluster .617 OPS with three homers and 23 steals across 510 plate appearances this season for Triple-A Memphis. The 29-year-old middle infielder might be able to find a new opportunity this offseason on a minor league pact with an invitation to spring training.

The transaction removes the 28-year-old infielder from the club’s 40-man roster. Robertson spent the majority of the 2022 season at the Triple-A level where he slashed .239/.393/.363 with 11 homers, 47 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 514 plate appearances across three organizations.

Robertson has now gone from the Cardinals to the Braves to the Mets and back to the Cardinals via the waiver process since June. He’ll report to Triple-A Memphis.

Robertson was just called up on Tuesday, but he’s getting the boot Wednesday to clear out room for the Mets’ trade deadline acquisitions. The 27-year-old has logged only career major league plate appearance.

Robertson has yet to make his Mets debut and has appeared in just two games in the majors this season.

Robertson has gone from the Cardinals to the Braves and now to the Mets since mid-May. He’s merely organizational infield depth.

Robertson will report to Triple-A Gwinnett. The versatile 27-year-old infielder appeared in two games this season at the major-league level before being jettisoned from the Cardinals’ 40-man roster. He’ll serve as extra organizational infield depth for the Braves moving forward.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Zack Thompson. Robertson was up briefly with the Cards last month and seems likely to pass through waivers unclaimed.

Robertson was called up earlier this week and appeared in a pair of contests for the Cardinals, but has been sent back to the minors with Edmundo Sosa returning from the injured list for Thursday’s contest against the Orioles. The versatile 27-year-old infielder should get an extended look as a bench option at some point later this season.

Robertson will give St. Louis some extra infield depth with Paul DeJong getting demoted on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Robertson offers some pop and speed, but he probably can’t be counted on for enough regular playing time to generate meaningful fantasy production.
