Lance Broadway allowed two runs and struck out six in six innings Wednesday in his first start for Triple-A Charlotte.
Broadway, a 2005 first-round pick, was 8-8 with a 2.74 ERA, 160 H and 111/40 K/BB in 154 1/3 IP for Double-A Birmingham. The White Sox shouldn’t have much need of him in September, but he could be ready to contribute by mid-2007.

Lance Broadway threw eight scoreless innings and struck out seven Thursday for Double-A Birmingham.
Broadway, the 15th overall pick in the 2005 draft, is 5-6 with a 2.92 ERA, 115 H and 75/28 K/BB in 111 innings for the Barons. He’s one of the White Sox GM Ken Williams’ best pieces of trade bait as he seeks to improve his club this month.

Broadway made just one regular-season start for Charlotte after going 8-8 with a 2.74 ERA in 154 1/3 innings for Double-A Birmingam. He wasn’t called up today with Charlotte’s season now over, but he is scheduled to pitch in the Arizona Fall League next month.

Texas Christian RHP Lance Broadway was taken 15th overall by the White Sox today.
Broadway’s stock had soared with his performance of late. He throws in the low-90s, shows a very good curveball and possesses very good command. He could be one of the first starting pitchers from this year’s draft to reach the majors.

Lance Broadway will get the start for the White Sox Thursday in place of Mark Buehrle.
He was picked over Heath Phillips. It will be Broadway’s first major league start.

White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.
Broadway, the 14th overall pick in the 2005 draft, had a 4.65 ERA and a 108/78 K/BB ratio in 155 IP in his first season in Triple-A. His stock is well down from a year ago, and it’s unlikely that he’ll have any success in the majors this month.

In his first major league start, Lance Broadway threw six scoreless innings and struck out in a victory Thursday against the Royals.
Broadway makes a very late case to be considered for a rotation spot next year. The 2005 first-rounder was a disappointment in the minors this season and appears to be lacking upside. Still, he could be considered a better bet than Gavin Floyd.

White Sox recalled pitcher Lance Broadway from Triple-A Charlotte.
He will take the roster spot of Jack Egbert, who was demoted on Saturday. Broadway was 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA in three starts with Triple-A Charlotte. He has a 4.44 ERA in 11 big league appearances with the White Sox.

Mets acquired RHP Lance Broadway from the White Sox for catcher Ramon Castro and cash.
The White Sox saw Broadway as a future No. 3 starter who could make it to the majors quickly when they drafted him 15th overall in 2005, but it proved to be a big misstep. He wasn’t given any chance of making the team out of spring training this year, and though he was called up last month, he wasn’t showing a whole lot while posting a 5.06 ERA out of the pen. Middle relief might be his ceiling now. The Mets will stick him in Triple-A.
