Indians RHP prospect Lenny Torres underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
Torres will miss the rest of this season and likely a significant portion of next year as well. The 18-year-old was the 41st pick in last June’s draft, and made six appearances in the instructional league with a 1.76 ERA. There’s a high success-rate of pitchers who undergo the operation, but we’ll have to see what the year off does for one of the top pitching prospects in the Cleveland system.

Indians selected RHP Lenny Torres Jr. out of Beacon HS (NY) with the 41st pick of the 2018 MLB Draft.
Not only is Torres talented, he’s one of the youngest players in the draft, having been born in October of 2000. He has excellent arm strength and has a chance to have a plus-plus fastball, and he also shows a solid slider. He needs to show these more consistently, and develop a third pitch to start.
