Buschmann

Buschmann, 28, has yet to make an appearance in the major leagues and registered a brutal 7.31 ERA across 88 2/3 innings last year at the Triple-A level. It’s not clear what the Rays want with the right-hander.

Buschmann, 28, posted a 3.89 ERA in 22 starts (141 innings) at the Rays’ Double-A affiliate last season. He has yet to make his major league debut and will continue to serve as organizational depth.

The 29-year-old has spent eight seasons in the minors, owning a 66-52 record and 4.05 ERA. Last season he had a 2.86 ERA in 160 2/3 innings over two levels in the Rays’ system. He’ll serve as pitching depth for the A’s.

The Rays have 48 hours from the time Buschmann exercises the opt-out clause to decide whether to add him to the major league roster, but Olney indicates that he could end up elsewhere. The Reds are hurting for starters and are likely to trade Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake before the deadline, so there’s a good chance Buschmann will get a shot with the big club.

Buschmann will report to Triple-A Norfolk. He started the season in the Rays’ system, then opted out of his minor league deal in mid-June before the Reds scooped him up on June 21. Buschmann spent 2012-13 with the Rays before playing last season with the A’s. The 31-year-old is just a depth guy who will slot into the Triple-A Durham rotation.

The 31-year-old right-hander is a 10-year minor league veteran. He spent the entire 2015 season at Triple-A between three different organizations, compiling a 4.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 109/47 K/BB ratio over 134 2/3 innings. He’ll add organizational rotation depth for the D’Backs.
