Duffy is coming up as infield depth with Josh Jung on the injured list. Duffy hit just .218 at Triple-A, but has previously spent parts of eight seasons in the major leagues.

Duffy is back in the fold with the Rangers just a few days after opting out of his minor league deal with the club. He’ll open the year back at Triple-A Round Rock as extra organizational depth.

The veteran infielder likely wasn’t to break camp with Texas, and he decided to opt out of his minor league contract in hopes of finding another gig with another team. He hit .251/.306/.325 across 209 plate appearances with the Royals last year and could land a backup role with another team within the next few days.
