    Nationals released LHP Matt Tomshaw.
Tomshaw inked a minor-league deal with the Nationals in late July and wound up allowing 14 runs over 14 innings at Triple-A Rochester before being released earlier this week.

Nationals signed LHP Matt Tomshaw to a minor-league contract.
Tomshaw struggled at Triple-A Charlotte, posting a stratospheric 7.45 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 36/8 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings. He’ll get a chance with the Nationals at the minor-league level. The 32-year-old southpaw has yet to appear in the big leagues.

White Sox signed LHP Matt Tomshaw to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 32-year-old has familiarity with the White Sox organization, as he toiled in the minor leagues there from 2018-2019. Tomshaw spent the 2020 season toeing the slab for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the independent American Association where he posted a 2.69 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 62/15 K/BB ratio across 80 1/3 innings. It’s a nice low-risk depth addition for the White Sox.

Marlins pitching prospect Matt Tomshaw tossed six hitless frames Saturday in a win for Double-A Jacksonville.
Tomshaw was making a spot start for Kendry Flores, who was recently called up to the major leagues. The 26-year-old gave up a walk to lead off the third inning but didn’t allow a baserunner after that. Jacksonville should consider moving Tomshaw into the rotation full-time. His ERA is 1.71 in four starts compared to 4.50 in 11 relief outings.
