Feliz

Feliz will head overseas just a few months after signing a minor league contract with the Yankees back in mid-May. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the majors since making one relief appearance last year for the Red Sox.

The 29-year-old hurler had been pitching in the Mexican League where he registered a 1.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 13/2 K/BB ratio across 8 1/3 innings -- which appears to have gotten the attention of the Yankees. He’ll add bullpen depth at the Triple-A level to start.

The 29-year-old hurler elected free agency just before the All-Star break after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox. Feliz posted a 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 4/2 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 innings in his lone appearance with the Red Sox.

Feliz was designated for assignment by the Red Sox last week and has chosen to head to the open market after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old has a career 5.29 ERA at the big league level.

Feliz was brought up by the Red Sox earlier this week and allowed two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings on Friday night in his season debut. The 29-year-old righty has a shot at clearing waivers and remaining with the injury-plagued Red Sox as extra relief depth.

Feliz is the corresponding move for Tyler Danish after Danish was placed on the injured list with a right forearm strain. The former Houston hurler has been solid in Worcester with a 3.28 ERA over 18 appearances with the Triple-A Red Sox, and will be a middle-inning option while with the team.

There are some prominent names with major-league experience among this group including Bracho, Cole, Feliz and Hartlieb. It’s possible several of these relievers are back up in Boston at some point this upcoming season.

Feliz drew the starting assignment for the Red Sox’ Grapefruit League lid-lifter and worked around a leadoff single from Byron Buxton in his lone frame. He whiffed Luis Arraez and Jorge Polanco before coaxing an inning-ending grounder from Miguel Sanó to escape unscathed. The 28-year-old righty reliever is vying for one of the final spots this spring in Boston’s Opening Day bullpen. He posted an underwhelming 7.20 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 22/7 K/BB ratio across 20 innings last year between the Pirates, Reds, Red Sox and Athletics.

Feliz appeared in 21 games spread across four different organizations (Pirates, Reds, Red Sox and Athletics) last season. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a lackluster 7.20 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 22/7 K/BB ratio across 20 innings during those stints. He’ll supply the Red Sox with some additional relief depth heading into the 2022 campaign.

Feliz was designated for assignment by the Athletics earlier this week. The 28-year-old spent time with four different organizations -- Athletics, Red Sox, Reds and Pirates -- this season.
