In what appears to be a permanent switch, Desi Relaford replaced Michael Tucker as Kansas City’s leadoff hitter on Saturday.
This is a good move by manager Tony Pena. Now he needs to give Dee Brown a chance to take over as his team’s right fielder. However, that probably won’t happen for at least another month. For now, expect Tucker to bat seventh most days. He’ll probably continue to bat leadoff when Relaford is out of the lineup.

The Yankees will likely add a left-handed bat eventually and have tossed around names like Michael Tucker, Desi Relaford, Orlando Merced, Ruben Sierra and Andy Fox.
Although the Royals have been using Tucker as a regular, they wouldn’t mind shedding his salary. Of course, if Tucker becomes a Yankee, his fantasy value would be in for a huge decline.

Royals activated Michael Tucker from the DL before Tuesday’s game.
Tucker has been out since Aug. 4 because of a broken tibia in his right leg. He’s not expected to do much except pinch-hit this week.

Michael Tucker, out since Aug. 5 with a broken right leg, might come off the disabled list and be available as a pinch-hitter.
“If I play it’ll be pinch-hitting and stuff. I’m not going to do a lot of running around or anything,” Tucker said.

Michael Tucker complained of a stiff back Thursday and didn’t play last night.
Tucker was scheduled for a day off anyway, manager Felipe Alou said.

Michael Tucker appears ahead of schedule in his recovery from a broken right leg and could be ready to return to on-field rehab work by the end of next weekend.
Tucker is still in a walking boot and on crutches. The best-case scenario has him returning in the season’s final week.

Michael Tucker was bumped to the No. 2 spot yesterday with the return of Ray Durham.
The Giants are 9-15 with Durham batting first, compared to 12-6 with Tucker. As you might expect, manager Felipe Alou said he still might consider using Durham elsewhere in the lineup.

Michael Tucker broke a 1-1 tie with a solo homer in the top of the eighth to help the Mets beat the Nationals 3-1 on Sunday.
Tucker had just entered the game on a double-switch. He’s started two of the five contests since the Mets had him replace Cliff Floyd on the roster, and since this will help his case for at-bats, he could be viewed as a decent one-week pickup in NL-only leagues.

Mets purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Tucker from Triple-A Norfolk.
Demonstrating just how much of a disappointment Victor Diaz has been this year. Tucker was hitting .266/.383/.412 in 274 at-bats for Norfolk. He shouldn’t have any value in NL-only leagues while acting as the Mets’ fourth outfielder for the next couple of weeks.

Even though his only hit was a single, Michael Tucker drove in four runs today.
The single scored two runs, and he also had a sac fly and collected an RBI on a groundout. Tucker had been in an 0-for-25 slump that dropped his OPS under 800.
