Koplove

Koplove could return in late July.

At the moment, it looks like the trade could be submitted to the commissioner’s office on Monday. Once that happens, 72-hour windows will be opened for the Yankees and Diamondbacks to agree on contract extensions with Johnson and Shawn Green, respectively.

''[The results] came back real clean, and the inflammation has calmed down considerably,’' manager Bob Brenly said. Said Koplove: ''I’ve never had a problem with this before. There’s still soreness, but I think I can throw in a couple of days and take it from there.’'

More will be known about Koplove’s status following the procedure.

''I’ve never had anything like this before,’' he said. ''It feels better, then it doesn’t. It’s more of an annoyance than anything. I’ll work through it.’' Koplove has a 1.73 ERA as Arizona’s top setup man.

''It’s the best I’ve felt since spring training,’' said Koplove, who will throw off a mound Tuesday.

It looks like Koplove will beat Matt Mantei back by at least a few days, but he may not get save opportunities unless Mantei’s return continues to be pushed back.

Koplove could return in late July.

Koplove will shut down his rehab for a few days.
