Morin

Morin hasn’t appeared in the majors since the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign when he made one relief appearance for the Marlins. The 32-year-old righty provides the Braves with some extra organizational relief depth in the upper minors after making 17 appearances this year in the independent Mexican League.

Morin made four relief appearances this spring for the White Sox and failed to land a spot on their season-opening roster. The 31-year-old righty signed a minor league contract back in January with Chicago. He last appeared in the majors with the Marlins during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

The 31-year-old right-hander made 12 relief appearances last year for the Kane County Cougars of the independent American Association. He’ll bolster the White Sox’ organizational relief depth.

Morin was one of three pitchers that were reinstated from the 60-day injured list only to be outrighted off the roster. The right-hander was placed on the IL with a right elbow UCL injury in August after appearing in just three games. He’s expected to become a free agent after refusing the assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. Morin recently went down with an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. It’s unclear if he’ll opt for surgery, but he’s not pitching again this year either way.

There’s no word yet on whether Morin will undergo Tommy John surgery or try to rehab first. Either way, he’s probably done for this season.

Morin will be evaluated further when the Marlins return home. He was claimed off waivers late last month.

Morin was lifted after throwing just two pitches with what looked like some sort of arm injury. The Brewers should have more info on his condition after the game.

Morin was designated for assignment over the weekend and now finds himself with a team who had to pause their season due to a coronavirus outbreak. Fun times. With all the positive tests, Morin should join the Marlins’ bullpen right away. He had a 4.62 ERA in 52 appearances between the Phillies and Twins last year.

The move clears a spot for Eric Lauer’s return. Morin did not appear in either of the team’s first two games.
