Pirates RHP prospect Mike Wallace delivered a career-high seven strikeouts over six shutout innings Tuesday in a win for Rookie-level Bristol.
He held visiting Pulaski to one hit while retiring the last 15 batters he faced. Tuesday marked Wallace’s first win since July 28. Wallace has done a fine job this year, limiting opponents to a .182 average over 142 at-bats. The 22-year-old began the year in Bristol’s bullpen but was moved to the starting rotation late last month. He’s improved immensely since last season when he posted an ugly 7.89 ERA over 13 outings for Bristol.
