We heard earlier this month that Brandon Moss was set for hip surgery and now we have more details. According to Joe Stiglich of CSNBayArea.com, the Athletics announced that Moss had a torn labrum repaired as well as a clean-up procedure to an impingement in his hip.
Moss will use crutches for around four weeks and the expectation is that he’ll begin running in 12 weeks. The Athletics could take it easy with him early on in spring training, but it sounds like he should have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day.
Moss was selected to his first All-Star team this year after a huge first half, but he batted just .173 with four home runs and a .584 OPS over 58 games after the break. The hip injury provides context for his struggles.
