Brewers GM Doug Melvin traded starter Yovani Gallardo to the Rangers last week. He reiterated on Sunday that he’s not looking to replace the right-hander in the rotation, per Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin.

This means the Brewers will be relying on 25-year-old Jimmy Nelson. In 111 innings at Triple-A Nashville, Nelson posted a 1.46 ERA with a 114/32 K/BB ratio. However, he struggled in 69 1/3 innings at the major league level, finishing with a 4.93 ERA and a 57/19 K/BB ratio.

Melvin did mention he’d like to add a pitcher capable of spot starting.
