Cameron Maybin’s minor-league rehab assignment has been put on hold after the Padres center fielder experienced a setback with his knee injury.
Maybin, who’s been out since mid-June with a strained posterior cruciate ligament, left Thursday’s game at Triple-A after two at-bats and now general manager Josh Byrnes tells Bill Center of the San Diego Union Tribune: “Technically, we pulled him off the rehab to give his knee a few days to calm down.”
(I’ve been saying for years that knees should calm down. They’re out of control.)
Because of the setback the clock on Maybin’s rehab stint can be re-started, so it’s possible he won’t come off the disabled list until September.
