Cardinals outfielder Shane Robinson injured his left shoulder sliding into second base in the ninth inning Monday night and will travel back to St. Louis for further examination.
Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that the Cardinals think Robinson suffered a partially dislocated shoulder, with manager Mike Matheny saying that “it looks like it’s in pretty bad shape.”
Now that Matheny has come to his senses regarding rookie Oscar Taveras’ playing time Robinson was likely to spend most of September on the bench anyway, but he’s been a decent backup outfielder for St. Louis during the past three seasons and offers a lot of speed in situational roles.
