Pitcher Colby Lewis and the Rangers were unable to reach a deal. Rangers president of baseball operations and GM Jon Daniels says that the right-hander will head into free agency, but the door remains open for a reunion, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Two weeks ago, Daniels expressed a desire to bring the 35-year-old Lewis back. Lewis had missed the latter half of the 2012 season and all of the 2013 season due to a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. This past season, Lewis mustered a 5.18 ERA with a league-leading loss total at 14 in 29 starts. However, he had better results in the second half, finishing with a 3.86 ERA after the All-Star break.
