Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin’s 2016 season hasn’t gone as expected. His first full season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014, Corbin has a 4-12 record with a 5.58 ERA and a 105/57 K/BB ratio in 132 1/3 innings over 24 starts. Not very good.
The Diamondbacks have made a change, moving Corbin to the bullpen and inserting Zack Godley into the rotation, MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert reports.
Godley hasn’t been much better, putting up a 5.24 ERA and a 35/13 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings over six starts and seven relief appearances.
Corbin still has two more years of arbitration eligibility remaining. Though his salary will be progressively increasing, the Diamondbacks aren’t likely to non-tender him -- at least not this winter -- so he’ll have a shot to get back into the rotation next spring.
