According to Alex Pavlovic of CSNBayArea.com, the Giants have elected to non-tender right-hander Yusmeiro Petit and catcher Hector Sanchez ahead of Wednesday night’s deadline. They are both officially free agents.

Petit figures to draw interest from multiple teams after posting a 3.66 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over the last three years in San Francisco while showing strong command both as a starter and reliever. He was due a raise heading into his third season of salary arbitration after making $2 million in 2015, so the Giants decided to cut him loose. They could still pursue a contract of lesser value with the 31-year-old Venezuelan.

Sanchez is your typical backup catcher -- a 26-year-old with a .240/.274/.345 career batting line. He should be able to find a new gig relatively soon, but it might have to come on a non-guaranteed minor league deal.
