Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma landed on the disabled list with a lat strain on Friday. More details about the injury have since emerged. Iwakuma has a Grade 1 strain of his right lat muscle and will be expected to miss two to four weeks, per MLB.com’s Greg Johns.

Iwakuma struggled over his first three starts, allowing 13 runs (12 earned) on 20 hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.

The Mariners recalled Roenis Elias from Triple-A Tacoma to take Iwakuma’s place in the rotation. In three starts with Tacoma, Elias compiled an 8.04 ERA with a 12/7 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings.
