After finishing 79-83 last season—a 17-win improvement over 2024, when Miami lost 100 games—the Marlins look to build on that progress, but are struggling to find consistency in their rotation amid injuries to key starters.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Pirates’ offense has taken a step forward. After ranking dead last in MLB in runs per game last season (3.60), the Pirates are on pace to average their most runs per game since 1940. Will it be enough to end their 11-year playoff drought?

Matt Vasgersian will call Sunday’s Marlins vs Pittsburgh game alongside 2011 NL All-Star first baseman Gaby Sánchez, 1980 World Series champion pitcher Bob Walk, and reporter Ashley ShahAhmadi, who will be making her debut during this week’s presentation of MLB Sunday Leadoff.
