From Jim Salisbury at CSNPhilly.com ...

Maikel Franco on Wednesday received some good news in his comeback from a broken wrist.

The Phillies third baseman was able to take 20 pain-free swings and could start ramping up his hitting program as soon as Friday as he strives to get back for the final couple of weeks of the season.

“It felt really good today,” Franco told Salisbury after his workout Wednesday. “I was very happy. Hopefully I’ll be able to play.”

The 23-year-old has been on the shelf since taking a pitch off his left wrist on August 11.

He was having a breakout rookie season before the injury, slashing .277/.340/.490 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI in 77 games.
