Mariners acquire Luis Sardinas from Brewers for Ramon Flores

Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto has made another trade, acquiring infielder Luis Sardinas from the Brewers in exchange for outfielder Ramon Flores.

Milwaukee acquired Salinas last offseason in the trade that sent Yovani Gallardo to Texas. He’s a 22-year-old, switch-hitting shortstop/second baseman with a weak bat and a good glove. He was expendable following the Brewers’ trade for Astros infielder Jonathan Villar yesterday.

Flores went from the Yankees to the Mariners in the July trade for Dustin Ackley and then suffered an ankle injury. He’s a 23-year-old left-handed hitter who’s batted .282 with 16 homers, good plate discipline, and an .825 OPS in 150 games at Triple-A. He looks best suited for a part-time role.
