Following the season-ending injury suffered by Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright on Saturday night, Nationals ace Max Scherzer said he “wouldn’t be opposed to” the National League adopting the DH rule, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Scherzer elaborated:“If you look at it from the macro side, who’d people rather see hit -- Big Papi or me?” Scherzer said. “Who would people rather see, a real hitter hitting home runs or a pitcher swinging a wet newspaper? Both leagues need to be on the same set of rules.”

“Those kids, they want to see V-Mart hit,” Scherzer said, pointing out a group of children on the field at Marlins Park. “Those kids don’t want to see me hit. No one want to see a pitcher hit. No one pays money for that.”
Scherzer went five years without regular at-bats in his time with the Tigers after coming over from the Diamondbacks. This year, he’s 1-for-9 with a single. On the pitching side of things, the right-hander has pitched as expected, posting a 1.26 ERA with a 29/4 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings.
