The Mets announced on Tuesday that shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained left thumb. Utilityman T.J. Rivera has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Cabrera, 31, spent about two weeks on the disabled list last month with a thumb injury and apparently it’s still bothering him. He managed to swat a pair of solo home runs during Monday’s win against the Cubs, however. He returns to the DL batting .244/.321/.392 with six homers and 20 RBI in 196 plate appearances.

Jose Reyes will shift over to shortstop while Cabrera is out. The Mets again declined to promote prospect Amed Rosario.
